Cracks in plasterboard joints often occur due to incorrect installation or movement in the structure. These tips will help you reduce the risk:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Use the right frame<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    • \n
        \n
      • Mount onto a stable wooden or metal framework.<\/li>\n
      • Place studs every 30\u201340 cm for extra stability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        1. Do not place joints above door and window corners<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
            \n
          • \n
              \n
            • Stagger the joints so they don\u2019t line up with stress points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              1. Use tapered edges<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                  \n
                • \n
                    \n
                  • This allows the joint filler to fit better and creates a stronger bond.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    1. Position screws properly<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                        \n
                      • \n
                          \n
                        • Screw head just below the surface, but not through the cardboard.<\/li>\n
                        • Center-to-center distance: approx. 25 cm on boards, approx. 17 cm on edges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                          1. Jointing and reinforcing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                              • Use joint filler and reinforcement tape (paper or fiberglass) for the seams.<\/li>\n
                              • Finish in at least two layers, sanding in between.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
